Suicide Prevention Center, Inc. (SPC), founded in 1965, is the oldest suicide prevention agency in Ohio and the second oldest in the United States. It has the oldest volunteer-run crisis hotline in the US. Its mission is to save lives threatened by suicide.
Since the loss of public funding in the second half of 1996, SPC has reorganized and established a new funding base. All funding now comes from private foundations, individual donors and fundraising events. The only public monies that SPC receives are donor choice monies from United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (those monies the donor stipulates MUST go to SPC only). While most services still remain free of charge to the client, SPC markets its training workshops.
Your participation in these fundraising events, along with your donations, will help Suicide Prevention Center serve the crisis needs of the people of the greater Miami Valley.
